Petrovietnam's PVEP signs oil deal with Uzbekistan
Petrovietnam Exploration Production Corp (PVEP), part of state oil group Petrovietnam, is to invest $30 million to look for oil and gas in Uzbekistan.
PVEP said in a statement it signed a contract with state firm Uzbekneftegaz on Jan. 29, under which PVEP would drill three wells for exploration over the next five years in the Kossor bloc covering 5,500 sq km (2,124 sq mile).
The deal with Uzbekneftegaz brought the number of projects PVEP is involved in to 56, including 22 in foreign countries, PVEP said.
The contract "opens great opportunities for Vietnam to penetrate the high-potential field of oil and gas in Uzbekistan in particular and Central Asia as a whole", PVEP said. (Reuters)
