Karachaganak Petroleum Operating (KPO), a Kazakh gas producing venture run by BG (BG.L) and Eni (ENI.MI), said on Thursday it was confident its operations were in line with Kazakh legislation. Earlier the Kazakh prosecutor general's office said it was conducting checks into the group to determine if its operations were in line with local labour and immigration legislation. "The execution of such audits is normal practice by governmental agencies in Kazakhstan and a regular occurrence in KPO and other companies," KPO said in a written response to Reuters questions. "KPO is confident that all of its business practices comply with Kazakh law. KPO is cooperating with the inspectors." (04/03/2010 reuters.com)
